Splyc is a freemium core loop plus API credits for AI and heavy compute. Whop is the primary checkout for Splyc Pro (monthly credits) and one-time credit packs. The core clipping workflow—capture, edit, export—stays usable without buying credits; credits meter AI features (assistant, extension analysis, transcription, VOD discovery, and similar).
Why credits instead of gating the whole app?
- Core product stays open: trim, timeline edits, manual export, and publishing workflows are not paywalled behind a single subscription tier.
- AI has real compute cost: transcription, vision samples, multi-pass VOD analysis, and agent tool calls scale with usage—credits align spend with actual work.
- Whop handles checkout: membership and packs live on Whop; Splyc applies grants when Whop confirms payment.
Credits are prepaid compute units (1 credit ≈ $0.001 nominal). They are not equity, yield, or an in-app tradable currency.

Unused monthly grant credits do not roll over in v1. Staff accounts may bypass debits for internal testing. Rough free-tier examples (2,000 credits): on the order of ~50 clip-assistant turns, ~25 extension AI samples, or ~2 hours of VOD single-clip ingest (no vision)—actual use varies by route and clip length.

Purchase in Settings → Billing (logged-in checkout links attach your Splyc account as splycUserId so credits land on the right account). Storefront URLs also live on Whop — Splyc. Creator is 25,000 credits at $19: a 20,000 list with a +5,000 marketing bonus. The former Studio ($59 / 100,000) pack is retired.

No credit charge in v1: raw clip upload, platform publish jobs, share-link generation shell, reading balance/ledger. When balance is too low, AI routes return 402 so the app can prompt a top-up.
How purchases become balance
- You buy Pro or a pack on Whop (prefer checkout from Settings so metadata links your account).
- Whop sends a signed webhook to Splyc’s API.
- Splyc verifies the signature, maps the plan id to a credit grant, and writes an idempotent ledger entry (duplicate events do not double-grant).
- Balance updates; Settings → Billing shows the new total.
Account linking: checkout should include your Splyc user id. Fallback: same email on Whop and Splyc (less reliable—use in-app checkout when possible). Existing Stripe subscriptions may still be managed via Stripe subscription in Settings. New primary checkout for credits is Whop; Stripe is wind-down for legacy subs.
$SPLYC holder perks (utility, not yield)
Verified holders of the community $SPLYC token on Solana (wallet linked in Settings):
- 2× monthly free grant (4,000 vs 2,000).
- +20% bonus credits on one-time Whop packs (e.g. 25,000 → 30,000).
Perks require a linked wallet and minimum balance on the official mint; Splyc re-checks on grant cycles. No custody—you sign to prove address ownership. This is a software perk, not a promise of token price, revenue share, or yield.

Privacy and payments
- Card data is handled by Whop (and legacy Stripe for old subs)—not stored as full card numbers on Splyc servers.
- Webhook payloads are verified with a shared secret; only grant-eligible events move balance.
- Usage logs may still tie AI events to accounts for billing, abuse prevention, and support—the ledger stores amounts and reasons, not raw clip video.
Credits infrastructure ships behind an API flag. Metering rolls out route by route. Until enabled in your environment, balances may not debit even if Whop grants are configured—check status in Settings or with support.
